Recommendations of the Governor's Citizens' Ad Hoc Evaluation Committee
on Lands / Endowment Presented to Land Board July 10, 2001
Background
At the December 21, 2000 special meeting of the State Board of Land Commissioners,
Governor Kempthorne announced the establishment of a Citizens' Evaluation
Committee to evaluate the Department of Lands on behalf of the Land Board.
The Committee was requested to evaluate how the department is currently
structured, how it operates and how it deals with resources. The Committee
was also asked to look at the relationship between the resources and the
endowment and the human resource issues of the people who work in the
Department of Lands.
Governor Kempthorne announced the following list of Committee members:
- Don Curtis, Retired Hewlett-Packard Executive
- Senator Marguerite McLaughlin
- Former Superintendent of Public Instruction Jerry Evans
- Robert Maynard, Chief Investment Officer, PERSI
- Mike Everett, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture
- John Cowden, Retired Boise Cascade Human Resource Officer
- Gary Christensen, Commercial Development
The Citizens' Evaluation Committee was formed in late January/early February
2001. The Committee's recommendations to the Land Board consist of ten
overall recommendations. Supplemental information is also included. The
