Single Engine Air Tanker
(SEAT) Program

During the 2004 Fire Season, the Idaho Department of Lands utilized
AT-802 SEAT aircraft at US Forest Service bases.

MYL SEATS - Two AT-802 were contracted to IDL from Evergreen Flying Service, Rayville, LA. These AT-802 aircraft were based at the Payette National Forest retardant base in McCall, Idaho. The US Forest Service and Mark Woods from the Southern Idaho Timber Protective Association (SITPA) handled the day-to-day management and the aircraft flew on Department of Lands and federal fires from July 18, 2004 through the end of August 2004. The plan is to use the same process during the 2005 fire season.

S80 SEATS - Two AT-802 were contracted to IDL from Evergreen Flying Service, Rayville, LA. The AT-802 are based at the Clearwater/Nez Perce Forest retardant base in Grangeville, Idaho. The US Forest Service and Thom Hawkins, Area Supervisor for the Department of Lands Craigmont Supervisory Area Office handled the day-to-day management. The aircraft flew on Department of Lands and federal fires July 10, 2004 through September 12, 2004. The same plan is anticipated for 2005.

COE SEATS - Three AT-802F were obtained through IDL-Canadian Compacts (agreements) from the Province of New Brunswick. The aircraft were based at the Idaho Panhandle retardant base in Coeur d'Alene and were managed day to day by Bob Burke of the IDL Fire Management Bureau and US Forest Service staff. The aircraft flew on IDL and federal incidents. The aircraft also few into Montana and Washington to support the National Forests and the State of Washington.
