Private Forestry Specialists

Forest Practice Advisors

The Idaho Department of Lands provides direct on-site assistance to forest landowners through various forestry programs, including the Idaho Forest Stewardship Program and the Idaho Forest Practices Act . IDL Private Forestry Specialists evaluate current forest conditions and suggest forest management practices to meet landowner objectives. Advice is available on: growing trees, harvesting timber, enhancing and protecting fish and wildlife habitat, forest improvement and protection, forest taxation, community forestry, and other topics of interest to landowners. IDL Private Forestry Specialists are often familiar with local consulting foresters and logging contractors that can help landowners successfully complete management objectives.

IDL Private Forestry Specialists administer forestry cost-share programs and inspect logging operations for compliance with the Idaho Forest Practices Act.
