🎉🔥 Happy New Year’s Eve from Fire Prevention Jen! As we say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new, here are some quick tips to celebrate safely:
🎇 Firework Safety
Only use fireworks where they’re allowed and follow local fire regulations.
Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby, just in case.
Never let kids handle fireworks unsupervised.
🔥 Bonfire Safety
Keep bonfires a safe distance from structures, trees, and other flammable objects.
Always have a water source ready to fully extinguish the fire when the party ends.
Never leave a bonfire unattended—designate someone to keep watch!
🌟 Fire Safety at Home
If you’re lighting candles, never leave them unattended.
Keep party decorations away from open flames or heat sources.
Most importantly, have fun and make memories responsibly! Let’s ring in the new year with a commitment to safety and protecting Idaho’s beautiful lands. 🌲💛
Cheers to 2025—stay safe, and I’ll see you next year! 🥂

Happy New Year!
🎄🔥 It’s Fire Prevention Friday! This is Fire Prevention Jen with a friendly reminder: if you’re disposing of your live Christmas tree, do it safely!
🎯 Tips for safe tree disposal:
1️⃣ Consider recycling your tree—many areas have holiday tree drop-off or chipping programs!
2️⃣ If you decide to burn- check your local fire regulations before burning.
3️⃣ Burn permits are not required outside city limits at this time, but always ensure conditions are safe.
4️⃣ Never burn on windy days, look up and around to ensure the space is clear of any ignitable material, and keep a water source nearby.
🌐 Before burning, check:
Air quality and burn restrictions: www.deq.idaho.gov/air-quality/smoke-and-burning/
Weather conditions: www.weather.gov/
Let’s work together to prevent wildfires and safely ring in the new year. 🌲💛

It’s unfortunate that barely over 1% of these funds will make their way back to the Northern Panhandle school districts when most of this money is generated here from timber sales & state lease sales.

One of many reasons it is important to keep our public lands held for the public good.
Now let's hope they spend it appropriately..
Lake Pend Oreille School District!!!!
🎄✨ #FirePreventionFriday with Fire Prevention Jen ! ✨🎄 and normally we focus on preventing wildfires, but today’s call to action is a reminder to water your Christmas tree (if it’s the non plastic variety)! 😉
💧 Just as live fuel moisture is important to fire managers when we determine fire danger, the moisture content of your cut tree is an important factor in reducing the potential fire hazard. 🌲
💦 A fresh, hydrated tree is less likely to dry out and become a fire hazard. Make sure to check the water level in the stand often, especially in heated rooms, and ensure the tree is always drinking.
Let’s keep your home safe, cozy, and festive this season!
