About Us

The Idaho Department of Lands operates 16 offices statewide, managing 2.5 million acres of state endowment trust land to maximize financial returns for public schools and other state institutions. We oversee public trust lands, navigable waterways, forestry practices, and parts of the mining industry. Additionally, we offer forestry assistance and fire protection on over 9 million acres. The department, guided by the Land Board, includes the Oil and Gas Division and relies on dedicated support staff for technical, fiscal, and administrative services from Boise and Coeur d’Alene.
