The Idaho State Board of Land Commissioners has approved the purchase of approximately 101 acres of farmland near Lewiston to develop a conifer seed orchard. This project will help the Idaho Department of Lands meet the growing demand for high-quality seedlings needed to sustainably manage timber harvests and maximize financial returns for endowment beneficiaries. Once developed, the seed orchard will ensure a reliable supply of genetically superior seeds, supporting healthy forests, increased timber yields, and long-term stewardship of Idaho’s endowment lands.

To meet the growing need for dignified burial services for Idaho’s veterans and their families, the Idaho State Board of Land Commissioners assisted the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery expand their operations through the acquisition of approximately 15.5 acres of land adjacent to the cemetery in Boise. This expansion, funded by the 2024 Idaho Legislature, will extend burial capacity for another 40 years, ensuring veterans continue to receive honorable burial benefits close to home.

Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), as part of its Strategic Reinvestment Plan, has purchased almost 18,050 acres in five northern Idaho counties: Boundary County- 3,216.52 acres, Bonner County- 4,005.09 acres, Benewah County- 4,563.73 acres, Kootenai County- 40 acres, Shoshone County- 6,222.43 acres. The newly purchased timberland is open to the public for recreational activities including mountain biking, camping, hunting and fishing. Some of the parcels block up existing blocks of endowment property and others add or improve access to existing endowment lands. The seller was a timberland investment management organization named Molpus Woodlands Group, representing the Carmona Tristar, LLC ownership group.

Acquisition Name: CAFE Center

Description: This property in Minidoka County was purchased from the University of Idaho by the Agricultural College Endowment. The property will be managed (by agreement) by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) as a beneficiary of the Agricultural College Endowment for the purpose of constructing a milking parlor and a research dairy. The endowment can expect to benefit from the land appreciation and ongoing ownership of well-maintained dairy facilities that may be leased or salable for the planned use or for other types of use upon termination of the agreement. CALS will also benefit with increased enrollment, a research dairy that will generate revenue through milk sales, and ongoing revenue from research grants and gifts.

Description: Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), as part of its Strategic Reinvestment Plan, has purchased more than 32,000 acres of timberland located within several north Idaho counties. The land was purchased using money from the previous sale of residential and commercial properties. The newly purchased timberland is open to the public for recreational activities including mountain biking, hunting, and fishing. This large acquisition includes parcels in Boundary (10,080 acres), Bonner (142 acres), Benewah (13,519 acres), Shoshone (6,923 acres) and Latah (1,495 acres) counties. Some of the individual parcels included with this acquisition block up existing endowment lands and provide access to other existing endowment lands. The seller was a timberland investment management organization named Molpus Woodlands Group, representing three different ownership groups. The ownership groups are Jackson Timberland Opportunities-Tristar, LLC; Jamestown Forestlands LLC; and Nordic Crystal Falls, LLC.
