Idaho's endowment lands were granted to the state to earn money for Idaho's public schools and other beneficiaries. We must manage these lands in ways that maximize the long-term financial return. Money is made through timber sales, real estate transactions, and by leasing the land for grazing, farming, minerals, and other uses.

We work in partnership with private forest landowners and local communities to improve forest health and protect water quality for the benefit of all Idahoans. We support active and sustainable forest management to support timber markets, reduce wildfire risk, and limit the impacts from insects and disease, all to enhance the resilience of forest landscapes. Additionally, we collaborate with federal, state, and local partners to manage and protect Idaho’s forests and rangelands.
